About The Blogger – Tracy
Hi Readers! I’m Tracy, a 20-something marketing professional living in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my dog, Joy.
I started this blog because I love food, fitness and fashion. My healthy lifestyle has impacted my life in ways I can’t begin to describe and it’s something I feel passionate about sharing with others. This passion for sharing tips and tricks to leading a healthy lifestyle led me to starting a blog where I can share this with others.
What’s Your Fitness and Healthy Living Story?
Childhood through Teen Years
I haven’t always been in shape or lead a healthy lifestyle. I was a chunky kid (if you’re lucky one day I’ll share a pic of my chub days) with low self-esteem, But, as my body began to change (AKA, I got my period) my frame changed more and more. I became “skinny” but not necessarily strong or in shape. I was skinny, but not in shape or strong. I could barely run a mile without wanting to die. It wasn’t until my sophomore year in high school that I began really working out and loving it through dancing six days a week. Here’s a picture of me in my dance glory days.
My passion and love of dance continued into my college years and I kept fairly active through my first two years of college. But, my activity level slowed down during the beginning of my junior year of college. I was BUSY – classes, double majoring, jobs, being in a sorority (DZ FOR LIFE!), having a busy social life, my boyfriend at the time, extra-curricular activities, and I kept me pushing my exercise and health needs to the back-burner.
Finally, at the beginning of 2012 I decided enough was enough and started working out and taking better care of myself. Well, the story doesn’t stop there.
After graduating college in the spring of 2012, I really slacked off health and fitness-wise. I was looking for a job, enjoying being out of school (going out a lot, drinking more than normal, etc) and put on over 15 lbs to my 5’0” frame…fairly noticeable when you’re a short girl. The trend of gaining weight and not exercising continued after I received my first “real job” in July of 2012. I felt miserable. I had low energy and was so moody all of the time. Even when I wasn’t the most avid exerciser, I ate fairly healthily. This drastic change in my eating and exercise habits truly impacted every aspect of my life.
Me at my heaviest:
It wasn’t until around October of 2012 that I re-committed myself to exercising, eating right and working on my self-confidence. I was humiliated that I had let myself go that much. It was a slow-go and definitely not the easiest thing, but I lost the weight I put on over the summer and then some.
The Change I Needed
In May of 2013, after avidly following their Instagram posts and Tweets, I purchased the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan and started my first 7DSD. I have fallen in love with Tone It Up even more since purchasing the plan and following the nutrition plan as well as the weekly exercise schedules they post. It has been a wonderful way to gain confidence, add variety to my workouts and, best of all, connect with other TIU girls all over the world through the online Community.
Where are you Now?
I am still following the TIU Nutrition Plan as well as working out 5-6 days a week, but remaining active 7 days a week. If I don’t plan a “work out”, I am going for long walks with the best walking partner ever – my dog or at least doing some stretching or light yoga.
I am not interested in losing weight; I am just focused on maintaining my dedication to living a healthy lifestyle and pushing myself in my work outs. I have ran a few races including my first mud run in August 2013. I also am Zumba Certified, ZIN Member and LOVER of hot yoga. It’s exciting when you start accomplishing things you never even thought you’d WANT to do!
This is OUR journey TOGETHER in the pursuit of Eating Fit.
