If you are new to what Foodie Penpals is, here is a quick description from Lindsey at The Lean Green Bean. Lindsey came up with the idea for Foodie Penpals randomly and it has really taken off. If you follow my blog regularly, you may remember that I participated in my first Foodie Penpal in January. Well, I really loved the experience and wanted to try it again this month. And, I’m so glad I did. It’s fun getting a package in the mail, but it is even better when its full of amazing goodies. This month I got paired up with Mary at Eat & Be Mary. Check out her blog, she has great posts and she met BJ NOVAK! Insanely jealous. Also, watch her blog later today for a post on what I sent her! So, here’s what I got:
- An awesome package delivered to my door. (Do you spy a little Joy tail in the background?! She was excited about the mail, too!)
- Amazing, varied treats that satisfied my sweet tooth (hello, Milano cookies!), my love of crunchy snacks and I got to try great new snacks, as well! Mary mentioned that the crisp flatbreads and the trail mix crunch she sent were her “to-go-to” snacks when she’s busy at work and I can see why! They were perfect morning and afternoon snacks while at the office.
- Mary said she wanted to include snacks that represented where she is from (NYC/New Jersey) as well as her Filipino background. The Golden Sweet Corn, Corn Bits and Skyflakes are all popular Filipino snacks that she bought at a Filipino grocery store in Jersey City. I really loved the corn bits, especially the slightly spicy ones. Delicious!
I have loved experimenting with the sesame flatbreads she sent. I’ve tried hummus, provolone and cucumber on them as well as almond butter and organic apricot spread (from my last Foodie Penpal reveal in January…still obsessed) on them and both combinations has been delicious. Thanks again, Mary!
